Run It Back: Re-ranking My Top 25 Albums Of 2015

Yeah, yeah I know. You’re all sick of lists by now. Well, whatever, I have a big one coming tomorrow. Until then, here’s a re-ranking of my top 25 albums from 2015. Read the original rankings here.

Keeping this short and sweet, so I’ll only be writing blurbs for the top 10.

1. Shrine, Alaska
2015: 1 (0)

What an incredible album. I still listen to this multiple times a week. Alaska has gone on hiatus for the time being, but I hope they get back to making new music sooner rather than later. We need them.

2. We Cool?, Jeff Rosenstock
2015: 2 (0)

Rosenstock gave us arguably the best album of 2016, but is it bad if I think We Cool? was better?

3. After, Lady Lamb
2015: 8 (+5)

Aly Spaltro is a genius, and the sheer creativity of After continues to blow my mind.

4. Coming Home, Leon Bridges
2015: 3 (-1)

I’ll never get tired of Sam Cooke, and I’ll never get tired of Leon Bridges.

5. Peripheral Vision, Turnover
2015: NR (+21)

Olympic National Park, Memorial Day Weekend 2016, in a car with the homie John: “Why in the world did I not include Turnover in my Top 25 last year?” – Me, thinking out loud.

6. GO:OD AM, Mac Miller
2015: 4 (-2)

Mac Miller is infinitely better than J Cole, despite what Shea Serrano says.

7. Mother, Runaway Brother
2015: 5 (-2)

The best band from Ohio, you just haven’t accepted it yet.

8. Black Coffee, Bad Habits, Choke Up
2015: 6 (-2)

Here’s an incredibly dumb thing to write, but I mean every word of it: Choke Up has defined my mental construct of Boston music since I moved to the city.

9. Old Time Reverie, Mipso
2015: 7 (-2)

Here’s another incredibly  dumb thing to write: Mipso has defined my mental construct of North Carolina music and I listen to them when I get homesick.

10. Feels Like, Bully
2015: NR (+16)

This album didn’t click with me until I saw Bully live. After that, I couldn’t stop listening.

11. I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside, Earl Sweatshirt
2015: 9 (-2)

12. Supersonic Home, Adventures
2015: 12 (0)

2015: 10 (-3)
